On March 19, 2016, the Saint Joseph's Hawks and the Oregon Ducks squared off in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Hawks were 9.5 point underdogs, and few gave them any chance of winning. However, Saint Joseph's had a secret weapon: DeAndre' Bembry, one of the best players in college basketball. Bembry was unstoppable from the opening tip, scoring at will and dishing out assists like a seasoned veteran. The Hawks trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half, but they refused to give up. Led by Bembry, Saint Joseph's mounted a furious comeback, hitting clutch shots and playing lockdown defense. In the end, the Hawks pulled off one of the greatest upsets in March Madness history, winning 64-58. Bembry finished with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists, but more importantly, he inspired his teammates with his never-say-die attitude. The Miracle of Saint Joseph's will be remembered for years to come as a game in which heart and determination triumphed over adversity.
